What to expect in a consultation:These consultations take a holistic look at the specific ways in which your nervous system is out of balance and what methods would be best suited to help you return to equilibrium. They are especially useful if you are feeling stressed, overwhelmed, anxious or in need of help to relax and to learn new ways to deeply rest your body and mind.
These sessions involve a variety of techniques to bring your nervous system into better balance. Many of the techniques you will be able to utilise yourself at home too, helping equip you with simple and dynamic ways to better regulate yourself.
When the nervous system is able to spend more time in the ventral vagal parasympathetic mode (often referred to as the ‘rest & digest’ state) your whole being is calmer and more relaxed with more of the body’s resources freed up to be used for healing, repair and a better functioning immune system.
Depending upon your preferences and needs, a combination of several different methods will be implemented during a session, these include:Medical Qi Gong. Medical Qi Gong involves a series of movements that are very calming for the nervous system and help one to become more grounded. It also helps to generate and circulate Qi (life energy) around the body. Qi Gong can be regarded as a physical exercise and a movement meditation in one.Personalised Essential Oil Preparations. Essential oils are highly concentrated plant extracts. They can be used to directly influence our state of the mind as the nerve signalling from the inhaled oils initially bypass the thalamus and instead directly impact the emotional centres of the brain. Personalised essential oil preparations can be enjoyed in the form of pulse point rollerball perfume or via a personal nasal inhaler (which are ideal for combining with breathing practices).Homeopathic Remedies. Homeopathy is a wonderful tool to help support the body’s vital force (it’s innate energy and healing potential). Homeopathic remedies are provided based on the specific symptoms someone is experiencing. When a person’s individual picture is understood a remedy can be chosen that best fits – the more precise – the more effective and fast acting.Breathwork Techniques. Our nervous system can be regulated through consciously adapting our breathing patterns. This is a great skill to learn and can be implemented at any time as no equipment is required and it is immediately available to you whenever you need it. Different states of nervous system dysregulation will benefit from different breathing patterns.Visualisations. Visualisations can be a powerful tool in lowering stress levels and regulating the nervous system. Guided visualisations can help create a pleasant space for someone to revisit in their mind again later. If combined with inhalation of essential oils at the time of the guided visualisation then smelling the same essential oil at a later date can readily trigger the memory of the relaxed state experienced during the guided visualisation.Indian Head Massage. This is useful for those who have been feeling stressed or anxious for a while and who wish to remember what it feels like for the body to be relaxed and the mind at peace. An Indian Head Massage can provide a quick route to being relaxed in the body and calm of mind.Lifestyle recommendations. This will be wide-ranging and very much dependent upon the individual and their specific lifestyle.Signposting to other practitioners, interventions, useful books and resources
